As playwright, musical director, vocal coach, and composer, Brenda Varda (she/her) has collaborated on 40+ new and extant productions (mostly in Los Angeles) at Bootleg, Sacred Fools, Unknown Theatre, the Met, Caltech, and more. Brenda is also the national touring musical director for Capitol Comedy and recent Twin Cities works include Norseplay: the Musical at the Phoenix Theater, Analogy & Vinyl with MMT, Danger Night at BLB, & Earth Day at Solar Arts.
Brenda's originals include Fables Du Theatre, Nine Dresses, This is My Garbage, Liquid, A Play In a Restaurant With a Piano and A Bar, Alice Through the Wormhole and Things That Fall From the Sky (ACTF award). Her work received support from the Center for Cultural Innovation, SOSE, UCIRA Emerging Artist Fund, the L.A. History Project, Edge Fest, the Mellon Foundation, the Gluck Foundation and Nautilus Musical Theatre.
Brenda teaches intermediate to advanced piano, voice, vocal performance & audition prep.
