Rebecca Smith

Rebecca (she/her) grew up in neighboring North Dakota, and was born to make music. tarting private piano lessons at age 3, she continued through high school, adding guitar and voice along the way. A proficient songwriter, she continued her creative endeavors at Minnesota State University in Moorhead, MN where she was scouted by a New York record label, who signed her. Soon after, she moved to Minneapolis to record her first album.

In Minneapolis, Smith continued her musical endeavors, recording & releasing two albums while also working for the Minnesota Orchestra, Sesame Street Live and Public Radio International. In 2010, she began teaching piano lessons from her home and it morphed very quickly into what is now Blue Tree Music Education: a comprehensive neighborhood music school in South Minneapolis. Proud to be the owner of Blue Tree, Rebecca considers herself first and foremost a teacher. She teaches piano, composition, theory and also leads group classes at Blue Tree. Her favorite thing about teaching is the joy in her students' eyes when they finally master a hard piece they've been working on.

Rebecca shares her life with her partner Jake and his two kids, four cats, and her dog, Lucy. When not teaching at Blue Tree, you will easily find her at Midori's Floating World restaurant, feeding her sushi addiction. Smith's future endeavors include continuing to expand Blue Tree, as well as finally getting 10,000 steps in one day on her FitBit.

Rebecca teaches MONDAYS, TUESDAYS, WEDNESDAYS, THURSDAYS & SATURDAYS and has slots available now!
