Maggie Mascal Elias

Maggie (she/they) is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and teaching artist new to the Twin Cities. As a musician and educator, she values ease, enjoyment, playfulness, bold creativity and embodied joy. Maggie’s mission is to share the magic and medicine of song with all fellow seekers on the musical path.

Maggie earned their Bachelors and Masters of Music in Opera from Northwestern University, where they began teaching voice in 2008. Focused on healthy technique across genre, Maggie is guided by the curiosity and goals of each individual student. No matter the repertoire or reason one wants to sing, Maggie aims to equip singers with the tools and techniques essential in turning musical dreams into musical realities.

From starting as a young artist with the Chautauqua Opera to a decade singing with Jane Glover and Music of the Baroque to building interactive opera installations for the Chicago Cultural Center, Maggie loves bringing performance to eclectic audiences from the Kennedy Center to the Chicago Lyric Opera to the Museum of Contemporary Art to public transit terminals across the USA.

Currently, Maggie is having a wild and wonderful time working on two new operas and their first full-length album. When not playing music, you’ll find Maggie under trees, in a library, at a lake, writing poems, or tinkering with their beloved collection of curious and whimsical toy instruments.
