Krista Joy (she/her) grew up in Minnetonka, taking piano lessons for 9 years, participating in choir, band and musical theatre. She remembers listening to her neighbor play piano as a child and wished for lessons for years. However, she had to wait for her parents to get a better piano. As a junior in high school, Krista Joy knew that she wanted to be a music teacher. Music was everywhere in her life: home, school, church, and with friends.
Krista Joy earned a Bachelors of Music Education, with a vocal emphasis from Bethel College in St. Paul, MN. In college, she loved participating in music ministry and lead several singing groups that toured churches all over Minnesota.
Krista Joy has a passion for teaching music to children. She has been teaching elementary classroom music since 2001 and loves to share music from all over the world, especially folk songs and dances. Being trained in the Orff-Schulwerk method, she is all about getting the kids moving, singing & playing rhythms in their learning. Teaching music and sharing the joy and happiness of music with kids gives her the most joy.
