Talking frogs? A falling sky? A town full of confused folk? What is really happening and who can answer these questions? The librarian? The coach? The Mayor and town council? The sweet and smart-thinking Rachel? With song, dance, and a fast-moving script, Thwacked unfolds to reveal these and many other delightful characters as they attempt to unravel the mystery in their fairytale world.

Students will receive group and individual instruction while working together to put on a full production, complete with costumes, scenery, staging, and choreography. Perfect for a child’s first introduction to the stage, or for those with a little more experience to hone their craft in a fun, nurturing environment!

*As we try to keep costumes and scenery student-led and instructor-supported, additional voluntary times may pop up for kids to come together to work on scenery or costumes during these two weeks.

Students will learn about women singers, instrumentalists, composers, rockers, and conductors from the past and interact (via Skype and class visits) with women currently working in the music industry. They will also choose one woman to focus on for a culminating visual project to be presented on the eve of the last class day.

Students who are interested in this camp but not interested in solo singing can replace their solo with a monologue.
